In latest Ubuntu 17.10 (and upcoming 18.04), 16.04 LTS many of us facing issue with Ubuntu software App (Gnome Software) not opening on Ubuntu Unity, Gnome, KDE or MATE too. Yesterday I reinstalled my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and when I clicked on Ubuntu software to install VLC player, but nothing happened. I tried to kill APT-GET process, but nothing helps me.
I try search on Internet, but I don’t found any working solution. Many of website telling us to reinstall Ubuntu Software app and many are still telling it a bug. But forums are useless in this matter.
Ubuntu Software App not opening fix:
You only have to delete cache folder of Ubuntu Software App / GNOME Software for Ubuntu.
sudo rm -rf /home/[username]/.cache/gnome-software
Note- Change [username] to your ubuntu username.
After delete the cache folder, you must have to restart your Ubuntu computer. Otherwise it will not work.
